Who We Are:
The Kroo Bay Initiative seeks to harness the collective resources and talents of the greater North Texas community to help Kroo Bay in Sierra Leone develop sustainably through empowering local organizations, schools, women and other entrepreneurs on the ground.
What we do:
The Kroo Bay Initiative is working to inspire change in Kroo Bay, Sierra Leone by partnering with three programs already on the ground that are important to strengthen the community there.
Not only do we hope to benefit the Kroo Bay community, but our own as well. This organization aims to inspire the youth in our community to become leaders who seek to find solutions to issues we face both locally and globally.
Partners
The Kroo Bay Initiative believes that the ones who know Sierra Leone best are those who live and breathe the culture. It is our goal, therefore, to inspire and empower those organizations within the community to provide support and sustainability for themselves. In order to attain such a goal, Kroo Bay Initiative has partnered with three organizations on the ground.
We are supporting the YMCA, which has a micro loan program that gives both men and women a chance to support and develop their own businesses. We are supporting the FAWE Primary School because investing in a child's education will not only benefit them long term, but their community as well. Finally, we are partnered with Youth Action International's Center for Women where women are taught computer literacy and marketable skills like hairdressing and sewing.
